Sawyer Utah an emerging singer-songwriter is a young artist, but he’s not new to songwriting. Utah began writing songs at the age of 7 and had his first performance at 8 years old. Releasing his first song in high school to share with his friends. His lifelong experience, passion, and skill in music truly show through his debut EP, Wherever U Are, out today. For fans of early Post Malone; Utah has a voice that resonates with you upon first listen, energetic yet heartfelt, and featuring masterful production similar to the likes of The Kid Laroi.
Raised in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Utah initially focussed on engineering and production before deciding he wanted to release music, even going as far as building a small studio in his parents’ basement. We asked Utah about this experience, and he recalled releasing his first song in high school simply because he “wanted to share it with friends and the world.”
When asked about the inspiration behind Wherever U Are, Utah explained that the EP is the product of the last couple of years of his life. “I started most of these ideas either in hotel rooms and studios far away from home,” Utah said, adding that bustling areas like New York City provided him with a constant creative spark.
“I hope people find comfort in the songs and feeling that I paint with my music,” Utah said. “I want people to know that they are not alone in their life and maybe even feel things they’ve never felt before.” It’s clear to any listener that this project isn’t just about melodies but forming a deeper connection with his audience.
Utah credits his social media presence for helping him reach listeners who might otherwise not find his music. “It’s special whenever I receive a message from someone who has just discovered a song of mine, and it has made a positive impact on their day,” Utah said.
Though the EP officially dropped today, Sawyer’s single Texas, released on June 21, 2024, offers a taste of what’s to come. When asked about which track is his favorite, Utah said, “Right now, it’s ‘Texas’-- but it’s always changing!”
A new track to look out for on the EP is Old Me. Utah let us know that this song has his favorite lyric right now: “Find a key to lock the door, don’t let the time run out.” Telling us that this line is, “[...] about how fast life goes by.”
Looking back he is especially grateful to a few who have propelled his career, like Norbert, Utah’s manager for his, “unwavering belief,” and for giving Utah, “the ability to do what I do.” He also wants to thank his family for their support, “ever since I started playing guitar when I was 6.” Ever grateful, Utah said, “This list could go on forever, truly.”
When it comes to looking ahead, Utah doesn’t hold back. When asked who his dream collab would be with, he said, “Right now, I’d say SZA!” Utah also wants his fans to keep an eye and ear out for new music, concert announcements, and new merch.

Wherever U Are is out now on all major streaming platforms. The tracklist consists of 7 songs, with one feature– Mxrgan.
